Well look at what we have here: A Monday release of some new Purity Ring material, two years after their last release. “Asido” is a moody, piano driven track that feels way more like an emo song than a dance track. The lyrics are as heavy as the bass and Ms. James’ vocals are as haunting and beautiful as ever.
How my tongue dried into the dust
How my skin willed a lie
Drill a hole in the field
Just the size of my thighsFeel as lonely as I do
On their Facebook page, the band says they’ve released the song to tide over fans and to celebrate the 5th anniversary of their debut album Shrines, a rrrepeat favorite. The added that they’re working on their 3rd album “at their own pace.” Here’s hoping we’ll see some more material by the end of the year.
