Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist just gets me, man. Night Things’ “Cost of the Summer” popped up on this weeks iteration and, surprise, its damn good. It’s got a slick 80’s vibe with shimmering keys and some clean reverb guitar. Vocals are killer throughout the track, especially some incredible harmonies between the male and female singers during the verse, and a raspy, powerful chorus from the male lead. Moving through their small library on Spotify, it seems that they alternate lead vocals on different songs.
The song is accompanied with a really well done music video that captures the songs mood perfectly. They’re using a “soviet-era pay phone” that plays back recordings of peoples dreams to promote their debut album that comes out later this year.
